Congratulations to Heart of Birmingham Teaching PCT, who won both Best Social Marketing Project and the Secretary of State’s Award for Excellence in Healthcare Management. These were awarded for their ‘Gym for Free’ initiative, at the HSJ Awards in November.
The scheme, created in partnership with Birmingham City Council, offers residents of Heart of Birmingham areas free access to sports facilities, provided they are used at least four times a month. As of June 2009, 75,000 residents had made use of the scheme. It is currently being rolled out across the rest of Birmingham.
