This BHFNC practice briefing suggests practical strategies for promoting physical activity with children aged 6-11.
The evidence-based recommendations in this briefing are underpinned by research findings and are followed by
practical strategies to support their implementation.
The resource is split into three sections looking at:
- promoting physical activity in schools and the community
- promoting physical activity to children specifically within the school setting
- promoting active travel to children.
The document concludes with a summary of the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) public health
guidance on behaviour change.
Two check lists have also been created to accompany this practice briefing. These are designed to help practitioners and senior management teams to assess their initiatives and early years provision against the recommendations in this briefing.
