I’m not sure why, but there’s this assumption amongst a lot of people that if they need to promote their sport or activity sessions that the first thing they HAVE to do is to print some posters and leaflets. I guess it’s based on what everyone’s always done. People think that posters and leaflets are the safe option. And I suppose that they’re safe in that everyone does that. But not in terms of effectively getting results. They’re really ineffective in fact. We track the results that we get from all of our marketing tactics, and both posters and leaflets score very badly. All the following tactics are more cost effective in terms of the number of people they reach:

  • Google Ads
  • Facebook Ads
  • Direct mail
  • Refer-a-friend

I’m not saying that you should never use them, but next time you’re allocating your marketing budget you’ll almost certainly be better off using something from the list above before designing and printing any posters or leaflets.

There’s a very brief explanation of each of these, and a slightly longer explanation of Google Ads in our free introductory guide, so if you want to know more and you’ve not read that before then I’d suggest downloading it.
