Why campaign mini-sites are important

A website is an important part of your marketing machine, and therefore should focus on emphasising your content, and getting people to do more sport. More and more you can use your website to promote your club, sport or activity. You can:

  • embed YouTube videos on it
  • use it to capture contact details of interested people for your emailing list
  • adding regular content via a blog
  • link it to your social media work (e.g. Facebook and Twitter)

So a website is incredibly important, but you don’t have time to learn how to build your own or much time to maintain it. It’s therefore vitally important to have a very simple system which doesn’t require much training and which helps you reach your goals.

Let people know when taster sessions are

An important part of an activity marketing campaign is to have a range of taster sessions available for people to try out.

By having a campaign mini-site you make it very easy for people to find out when and where your taster sessions are taking place.

Add articles about getting active

When people are starting to get active they often want to know about others who have gone through the same process as them. It’s all very well a young, fit sports development officer telling them they need to do more exercise, but what do they know! If they’re hearing from someone else who’s also got diabetes, or has also had a hip replacement then the same message is much more believable.

You can get some of this content for free from the NHS Choices website (www.nhs.uk/LiveWell/Fitness) and then you can also people who sign up to your marketing list if they’ve got any good stories.
