Writing
Why writing is important
What you say on your marketing materials is one of the fundamentals of good marketing – you need strong and effective messages that will encourage more people to take part in sport and activity. Your posters, leaflets, banners, adverts, websites and email newsletters are like your sales people in the field and they need to have the right messages to encourage people to come and take part in the activities you’re promoting.
If you look at the communication plans we’ve written for each of the 29 activity segments then you’ll see that each of them relates to different brands. For example Paula (26-35, less well off) likes Argos, whereas Elaine (56-65, better off) likes John Lewis.
If you look at these two adverts then you’ll notice that there are key differences in the headlines and main text. John Lewis uses less text and focuses on the luxury benefit (where beauty begins). Whereas Argos primarily focuses on saving money.
In order to run an effective activity marketing campaign you need to make sure what you write matches the benefits that your audience is interested in and matches the tone of voice that they’re used to.
Our writers can put together effective and carefully targeted writing for your marketing materials that will immediately grab the attention of the recipient and encourage them to take action.
Costs
We of course give a formal quote for each job, but as a guide we charge £50/ hour (excl. VAT). We allow for 3 rounds of changes, but will also support you in putting together an initial brief designed to ensure that your messages will match exactly what you want to achieve through your activity marketing. Admittedly, the overall cost is more than you’d pay for hiring a freelance writer, but that’s because the most time-consuming, but vital, stage is actually working with you to get the brief right in the first place.
